Spooky #158

Spooky the Tuff Little Ghost meets his match on the cover of this 1978 Harvey charmer — a fearsome green dragon breathing fire right at the little ghost's belly, while Spooky's derby hat pops clean off his head and he exclaims, "Boy, do I have a heartboin!" It's a perfectly absurd setup that captures everything lovable about this series: a pint-sized ghost more bemused than frightened, facing down a scaly monster in a strange purple landscape. With "Touch Me Not!" among the promised "Swell Special Spooky Stories" inside, issue #158 delivers that warm, funny Harvey Comics spirit in fine form.
