“The Soich for Poil”

Harvey's "tuff little ghost" is front and center on this 1972 Giant 52-page issue, with Spooky — bowler hat perched on his little ghost head — floating smugly amid a flurry of lightning bolts and telephone-wire gossip ("Hi Marge, did you hear about… and then she said…"), while a cheerful bluebird perches nearby on the wires. The cover panels along the left side preview the familiar Harvey gang: Spooky, Poil, Casper, the Ghostly Trio, and Wendy, promising a full house of supernatural fun. At a quarter cover price, this giant-sized September issue packs in plenty of the mischievous charm that made Spooky a Harvey staple throughout the early '70s.
