Spooky #125

Harvey Comics' "tuff little ghost" is in fine form in this August 1971 issue, where the cover finds Spooky — derby hat and mischievous grin firmly in place — charging through a junkyard after a rattling, wide-eyed red jalopy that looks every bit as startled as it does mechanical. The bright yellow backdrop and scattered heap of junk at the "Dumps" sign make the whole scene crackle with scrappy, slapstick energy. With a title like "To Boo or Not to Boo" waiting inside, this 15-cent package promises the kind of good-natured ghostly trouble that made Harvey's lineup so endearing in 1971.
