Ibland berättar Väktaren inte bara fantasihistorier som kunde ha hänt; ibland berättar han också historier ur Jordens förgångna. De Eviga är en människoras som genmanipulerats av rymdvarelser och därför blivit såsom gudar. När deras stad Titanos förstörs får bröderna Zuras och Alars veta att deras far Chronos' experiment har gjort alla De Eviga odödliga. Experimentet har också gett De Eviga möjlighet att smälta samman till en enda intelligens, Uni-Hjärnan, och fatta beslut om att Zuras ska bli deras nye ledare. Alars ger sig av för att hitta sitt eget öde.
