Spindelmannen #4/1990
In "Jagad av X-Factor," Flash Thompson is on the run, wrongly believed to be the Hobgoblin, while Robbie Robertson at the Daily Bugle questions the truth. Jonah Jameson hires mutant hunters to capture Spindelmannen—only for the team to reveal themselves as the original X-Men, using X-Factor as a cover to aid mutants. Spindelmannen, still weakened from his battle with Rhino, is overpowered by the group, who let him go with the excuse that he wasn’t a mutant after all. Written by Tom DeFalco and Janne Eriksson, with art by Rick Leonardi and inks by Bob Layton, and colored by Nel Yomtov, this 1990 issue features a striking cover by Charles Vess.
In the shadow of a city-wide manhunt, Flash Thompson flees suspicion as the Hobgoblin, while Robbie Robertson at the Daily Bugle questions the truth behind the headlines. Jonah Jameson’s desperate hunt for Spider-Man leads him to hire mutant hunters—only to discover they’re the original X-Men, using X-Factor as cover to protect and guide mutants in secret. When Spider-Man, still weakened from his battle with Rhino, is overwhelmed by the team, he’s released with a surprising warning: he’s not a mutant, but that doesn’t mean he’s safe.
In the shadowy corridors of a forgotten mission, Spindelmannen tracks down Flash Thompson—only to collide with Titania and the Absorbing Man in a clash that leaves both sides unwilling to press further, especially after the Absorbing Man threatens the lives of innocent passengers aboard a hijacked plane. Meanwhile, Black Cat slips through the cracks, targeting the Foreigners’ headquarters with quiet precision.
