Spider-Woman #13

Spider-Woman Vol. 3 was launched in July 1999 under writer John Byrne, with Bart Sears on pencils, Randy Elliot inking, and Ralph Macchio editing — the same core creative team that carried the book through its entire 18-issue run. The series grew directly out of the 'Gathering of Five' and 'The Final Chapter' storylines in the Spider-Man line, with Mattie Franklin having been created by Byrne and artist Rafael Kayanan and introduced in late 1998. Issue #13 falls in the stretch where Byrne was escalating the Flesh-and-Bones villain thread toward an ending that the Marvunapp Appendix characterizes as a rushed wrap-up prompted by impending cancellation, with the series concluding in December 2000 after mediocre sales.
