Spider-Man: Spider's Shadow #5

The finale of this 2021 What If? miniseries arrives with a cover by Phil Noto that captures the weight of the whole series in a single haunting image: a battered, maskless Peter Parker in his torn Spider-Man suit, surrounded on all sides by looming symbiote figures with their characteristic white eyes and jagged teeth closing in around him. It's a portrait of a hero pushed to his absolute limit, and Noto's painterly rendering makes every bruise and bloodstain feel earned.
