Spider-Man's Tangled Web #6

Peter Milligan and Duncan Fegredo close out their "Flowers for Rhino" two-parter with this striking 2001 issue, and Fegredo's painted cover says it all: the Rhino, draped in a red robe and reading glasses, lounges in an armchair absorbed in a book while a laughing blonde woman nestles against him, a crushed rose at his feet, and two armed men in suits flank him on either side — with Spider-Man himself captured only as a painting on the gallery wall behind them. It's a surprisingly tender and offbeat image for a Spider-Man villain, the kind of visual that makes you pick up the issue without needing any further explanation.
