Spider-Man Megazine #6
In "Look Out, There's a Monster Coming!", Spider-Man and the Thing confront the Puppet Master, who reveals a painful secret: his radioactive clay accident blinded his stepdaughter Alicia Masters—now the Thing’s girlfriend—and birthed his powers. With the truth out, the trio races to an abandoned lab in hopes of finding a cure, only to discover it’s been seized by the Mad Thinker, trapping them inside. Written by Gerry Conway and illustrated with bold precision by Gil Kane, with inks by Mike Esposito and letters by Jean Izzo, this gripping tale unfolds in a story where past sins and present danger collide. The cover, by Mark Buckingham, captures the moment of tension with striking clarity.

The Puppet Master admits to Spider-Man and the Thing that he caused the accident that blinded his stepdaughter Alicia Masters (Thing's girlfriend). This accident was also the source of the Puppet Master's ability to create and control puppets from radioactive clay. Hoping to cure Alicia, they all head for the old hidden lab, but the Puppet Master has already turned the lab over to the Mad Thinker, and the heroes are trapped. The lab is eventually destroyed in an explosion, the villains assumed dead.
