Iron Man battles the Freak but is defeated when his power runs out. The Freak makes his way to Stark's lab where Pepper is dealing with an angry Senator Byrd. Byrd thinks the Freak is trying to attack Pepper and courageously tries to defend her. He is thrown across the room by the Freak. Pepper faints. The Freak lifts Pepper in his arms but drops her from an upstairs window when shot at by the police. Iron Man breaks her fall with his repulsor ray and then, back in the lab, fires his Enervation Intensifier at the Freak in a bid to change him back into Happy.
