Spider-Man #9/2006

In "Extreme Measures," Spider-Man finds himself trapped in an underground Hydra bunker facing twisted, villainous versions of the Avengers—only to be rescued by the real team when Captain America, Iron Man, Luke Cage, and Spider-Woman arrive. With the fate of the Midwest’s vital water supply hanging in the balance, Iron Man and Spider-Man race to stop a missile launch carrying deadly biological agents, but when they’re too late to prevent liftoff, Spider-Man makes a desperate move to divert the warhead over the ocean—only to be caught in the blast.

In "All Fall Down," Spider-Man finds himself in over his head after narrowly surviving a rocket explosion he diverted—only to be pulled from the wreckage by Iron Man. While Tony Stark runs a series of tests that uncover unsettling anomalies, Peter Parker insists he’s fine, but the cracks in his composure begin to show. With Mary Jane watching anxiously and May Parker at home, the weight of the moment settles as the line between hero and burden grows thinner.
