Spider-Man #12/2005
In "Down among the Dead Men," Spider-Man, reeling from the belief that he betrayed Aunt May, clashes with a dangerously enhanced Electro in a brutal showdown that leaves him hospital-bound. As the battle rages, he manages to redistribute the $20 million stolen by Electro and the Vulture from the Owl to a crowd of stunned New Yorkers before collapsing. While recovering in the hospital, Spider-Man is visited by an unexpected guest—his old foe, the Vulture—whose presence hints at a deeper game unfolding beneath the city's surface.
In "Down among the Dead Men - slutten," Spider-Man finds himself dragged from his hospital bed by the Vulture, who reveals a desperate motive rooted in the cost of his grandson’s medical treatment. With Black Cat stepping in to help, the fight escalates into a tangled web of betrayal, as the Vulture is handed over to the Owl—only to face the cold judgment of a criminal underworld that doesn’t forgive failure. Meanwhile, a single photograph of a masked, bandaged Spider-Man circulates through the Daily Bugle, sparking a moment of grim satisfaction for J. Jonah Jameson.
