Spider-Girl #2
Spider-Girl Vol. 3 #2 is the second chapter in Makawalu "Maka" Akana's first-ever solo series — a significant milestone for a character who represents Marvel's most recent addition to the Spider-Girl lineage and one of very few Hawaiian protagonists headlining a mainstream Marvel ongoing. The series was announced by Marvel at ComicsPro in February 2025 and launched in June of that year, spun directly out of the Spider-Boy ongoing. Writer Torunn Grønbekk, who had previously worked on Venom and Thor for Marvel, was paired with artist André Risso in what Marvel described as his Marvel Comics debut, bringing a distinctly kinetic visual approach to Maka's street-level New York adventures. The character of Maka Akana herself was created during the Spider-Boy run — multiple Marvel press sources credit Dan Slott and Paco Medina as her creators, though at least one wiki source attributes the creation to Dan Slott and Michael Cho, a discrepancy noted in the flagged section below.
