Speed Bump #1
Dave Coverly's beloved single-panel comic strip gets a French-language collection with this volume subtitled Non-Sens Unique, published by Éditions Caurette as part of their Collection Humour Pressé. The cover sets the tone perfectly: two T-Rexes clutching smartphones complain, in a speech bubble, that selfies are terrible because all you can see is their nostrils — a very relatable frustration rendered gloriously absurd by the fact that they have tiny arms and enormous prehistoric snouts. It's the kind of warm, clever everyday humor that makes Speed Bump such a pleasure, and this 2019 French edition is a charming way to enjoy Coverly's wit.
