In "L'homme éponge," the Challengers encounter Miklos, a diver transformed into a living sponge, as his neighbor Stacy promises a cure—though it’ll cost a fortune. As Miklos ventures into the city, he begins absorbing color, sound, and even strength from the Challengers, while Stacy flees to rob a bank. Disoriented and overwhelmed, Miklos swells uncontrollably, soaking up water and growing larger, until the Challengers lure him into a lake with sedatives. After using his strange powers to extinguish a forest fire and save a child, he slips away into the ocean.
In "Le tailleur maudit," the once-renowned Romanian tailor Janus Scabroz, haunted by a past murder and tormented by his former assistant Duke Kiso, is forced into years of servitude. When Scabroz finally crafts a mysterious rescue jacket for Kiso, the line between master and victim begins to blur in ways neither man could have foreseen.
In "L'étonnant retour," Ira Quimby escapes prison by harnessing sunlight and using a spinning device to turn invisible, then reassembles his Q.I. Gang for a fresh wave of criminal schemes—only to be stopped once more by the relentless duo of Hawkman and Hawkgirl.
In "Les yeux dans la main," young Corker enters a high-stakes marble tournament not for glory, but to save his struggling mother. His prized marbles are no ordinary glass—each one a stolen eye from their cruel landlord, Mr. Ebber.
