Spawn: The Undead #9

The cover of Spawn: The Undead #9 sets an unsettling, atmospheric tone: a man strapped to what appears to be an electric chair — a metal skullcap wired to his head, his expression grim and resigned — sits spotlit in the foreground while Spawn looms massively behind him, red cape billowing like a dark storm. The composition by cover penciler Dwayne Turner and inker Chance Wolf makes excellent use of shadow and scale, casting Spawn as an ominous, almost spectral presence watching over a condemned figure.
