Spawn #222

Spawn #222 hits hard with a cover that puts the avenging anti-hero flat on his back, staring up at the massive, horned monster known as Tremor — all glowing eyes, gnashing teeth, and crushing claws bearing down from above. Todd McFarlane both pencils and inks this visceral confrontation, and FCO Plascencia's brooding color palette of purples and earthy greens gives the whole scene a genuinely unsettling weight. The banner says it plainly — "Tremor Is Back!" — and this 2012 Image Comics cover makes a compelling case that Spawn may have met his match.
