Spawn #117 marks a decade of the hellspawn's reign — 1992 to 2002 — and this tenth-anniversary issue opens "A Season in Hell, Part 1" with a cover that commands attention. Greg Capullo's pencils and Todd McFarlane's inks deliver Spawn in full menace, swooping over a darkened gothic cityscape with his tattered crimson cape spread wide like enormous wings and glowing green eyes cutting through the dusk. It's a fitting visual statement for a milestone issue, with the creative team of McFarlane, Brian Holguin, Angel Medina, and Brian Haberlin bringing their considerable talents together to carry the series into its second decade.
