This issue contains two stories. The lead story depicts a conflict between Earth and Venus, in which an old scientist is buried in a grave on a distant asteroid and Venusians attempt to obtain Earth's scientific secrets to turn the balance of power in their favor, prompting Captain Shelby to lead his fleet in pursuit of the alien threat into space. "Grass of Destruction" is a text story in which a young space cadet recounts his experiences as part of an expedition to an asteroid in the Second Galaxy, where the crew encounters a hostile alien life form that forces them to make quick tactical decisions to survive.

The Deciding Factor
10 pp · Science Fiction

When a brilliant scientist working in secret on a time machine dies at the hands of a military general during an endless war between Earth and Venus, his devoted assistant Peter inherits both the machine and the scientist's conviction that peace, not weapons, holds the real answer. As the Venusians execute a daring raid to steal Earth's newest superweapon and tip the balance of power in their favor, Peter must decide whether to let history unfold as written—or risk everything to change it.

Witch's Way
2 pp · Fantasy, Historical

In 1482 Meckleburg, a fearful village blames a mysterious witch for their misfortunes and demands her capture—but a knight intervenes, offering the accused old woman sanctuary. Years later, when a peasant revolt threatens the same knight's life, an unexpected savior arrives from the skies, repaying his kindness with a deed that proves the old tales were true all along.

Hail The Conquering Hero
10 pp · Science Fiction

When humanity detects an alien fleet hovering over Earth, the world turns to Captain John Shelby to lead their rebuilt space force in a desperate delaying action—drawing the invaders away from the planet while scientists scramble to develop better weapons. But as Shelby pilots his fleet deeper into the unknown reaches of space, his crew struggles with fear, doubt, and the mysteries of the cosmic void itself. The fate of mankind rests on a strategy born of desperation, and nobody knows if the captain's gambit will buy Earth the time it needs—or lead his ships to oblivion.
