Sovereign Seven ties into DC's 1996 "The Final Night" crossover with this unsettling issue, its tagline — "There's Nothing in the Dark…" — hanging in the air like a promise about to be broken. The cover, penciled and inked by Dwayne Turner, pulls you in close with a bearded man and a long-haired blonde woman in an anxious embrace, while a dark, glowing-eyed figure looms ominously in the moonlit background and grasping hands reach up from below. Chris Claremont's series had always thrived on tension between its characters, and this image captures that mix of vulnerability and dread perfectly.
