Set against the grim backdrop of the Norwegian Middle Ages, "Pesta" draws on historical dread and folklore, weaving a haunting tale where the Black Death takes on a terrifying, almost sentient form. As the plague spreads and fear grips the land, a young woman must confront the monstrous embodiment of the sickness that haunts both body and mind.

In the shadowed aftermath of a devastating plague, Solrun and Tormod wander a desolate Norway, seeking refuge from fear and memory. Drawn to a Sami shaman’s camp, Solrun finds herself unexpectedly stirred by the shaman’s young grandson, while the enigmatic Nattlys watches her every step.

In 1300s Norway, merchant Jacob Haderslef’s thriving trade in the north takes a dark turn when he crosses paths with Gjuke, the ruthless lensherre driven by greed and power. Their rivalry escalates as the young woman Solrun finds herself caught between them, caught in a storm of ambition and consequence.
