Eirik Ildahl
1957–
Eirik Ildahl was born on 19 June 1957 in Hamar, Norway. He is best known as a comics writer, though his career has also spanned scriptwriting for television and film, playwriting, and novels. Ildahl entered comics in 1980 with the series *Sirkus*, created alongside co-writer Terje Nordberg and illustrator Arild Midthun. His most celebrated work is the fantasy trilogy *Solruns saga*, drawn by Bjørn Ousland; the second volume, *Nattlys*, won the Sproing Award in 1990. Ildahl’s style is rooted in narrative-driven, often mythic storytelling, and his key collaborators include Ousland and Midthun. Beyond comics, he wrote for the long-running Norwegian soap opera *Hotel Cæsar* and co-wrote the films *Blackout* (1986) and *Hodet over vannet* (1993), the latter starring Cameron Diaz. In our catalog, he is credited as writer, artist, inker, and letterer on 19 issues from 1981 to 2020, with his most frequent titles being *Solruns Saga*, *Tegn*, and *Pappa & Pestus*. Ildahl remains active in Norwegian letters, his legacy secured by his pioneering work in fantasy comics and his contributions to popular screenwriting.
