Solo #11

DC's Solo anthology series devoted each issue to a single cartoonist's vision, and issue #11 belongs entirely to the irreplaceable Sergio Aragonés. His cover sets the tone perfectly: a wide-eyed, slightly bewildered warrior in magnificently ornate samurai armor raises a katana aloft, rendered in Aragonés's unmistakably expressive line — all intricate detail and irresistible warmth. With Aragonés handling writing, art, and inking himself, and colors by Tom Luth and Lee Loughridge bringing it to life, this 2006 issue is a genuine showcase for one of comics' most distinctive voices.
