Soldier X #8
Igor Kordey's striking black-and-white cover for Soldier X #8 is rendered with an almost woodcut-like intensity — a central figure gazes upward with clasped hands amid swirling, chaotic imagery of flames, architecture, a crescent moon, stars, and a looming winged creature, while a ghostly face watches from the shadows below. The stark monochromatic palette gives the whole composition a raw, unsettling energy that feels perfectly matched to a story titled "MMIII, Anno Morionis (Year of the Madman, 2003)." Writer Darko Macan and artist Kordey were clearly pushing Soldier X into territory that felt more like dark literary fiction than standard Marvel fare.
