Sokeri-Sakari #[nn]

Published by Jalava in 1987, this Finnish comics album brings together the creative talents of Joakim Pirinen and Jukka Heiskanen for "Sokeri-Sakari," with Pirinen handling both the writing and artwork throughout. Pirinen's distinctive linework, also on full display in the cover art, gives the book a personal, handcrafted feel that was very much at home in the lively Scandinavian alternative comics scene of the era. With lettering by Kaija Kiuru rounding out the production, this is a nicely cohesive package from a period of genuine creative energy in Finnish comics.
