"Cowboy Jake" follows a cowboy who bets his dough on a horse race, placing money on a horse called "Lady May" after a man convinces him to switch his bet from "Dynamite" to ensure he cannot lose, only to discover the man had given the horse inside dope on a new racket. "Crime on the Run" depicts Chicago gangland activity involving Al Capone and rival mobs, with Inspector Eames organizing a manhunt patrol in the frozen wilderness of Aklavik to pursue a criminal, resulting in a confrontation at Johnson's Cabin where the suspects attempt to escape across a sunken floor.
Hale the Magician and his companion Lois arrive seeking Governor Warren, only to discover that the ruthless dictator Grillo has seized power and plans Warren's execution. When Grillo becomes obsessed with stealing Hale's enchanted spearhead, the magician must use both cunning and combat skill to stop the tyrant and free the people from his iron grip. This fast-paced adventure pits magic and courage against raw tyranny in a battle where the stakes couldn't be higher.
Chief Pakagon was a wealthy and powerful leader who controlled the land where Chicago now stands, commanding hundreds of warriors while enjoying a life of leisure hunting and fishing in a region rich with game and abundant natural resources. Indians from across the frontier sought his favor, and his influence and comfort were sustained by the devotion of his many friends and followers.
