“Sweeney Toddler”

The third chapter of Marvel's four-part Slapstick saga arrives with a cover by James Fry and Terry Austin that's pure cartoon mayhem — a wide-eyed villain in goggles and green armor looms in the foreground while the rubbery, purple-faced Slapstick gets thoroughly blasted in a burst of energy, screaming "Bogus!" as machinery explodes around him. The cover copy teases a super-villain so delightfully juvenile it demands to be seen, which fits perfectly with the anarchic, Tex Avery-meets-Marvel energy on display. Len Kaminski and James Fry deliver "Sweeney Toddler" as part three of four, and if this chaotic, color-drenched cover is any indication, the series hasn't lost a step.
