Sissi Novelas Graficas #208
"María José y el puma" is a standout entry in the Sissi Novelas Gráficas series, offering a quiet, charming tale of youthful romance and self-discovery. Set against the backdrop of a small town’s familiar café, the story follows Ginny and David as they playfully imagine grand romantic gestures—duck orange and champagne, designer dresses, exotic flowers—only to find that real connection lies in the simple, honest moments. The expressive graytone artwork by an uncredited colorist enhances the story’s delicate balance of whimsy and sincerity, while Edmond Fernández Ripoll’s cover captures the dreamy, intimate mood of the tale.

Ginny and David pretend they are going on dream dates. When he orders duck orange and champagne from the new French chef at the 'Savoy', the owner of the local 'Savoy Bar' serves up ham sandwiches and tomato juice as always. She pretends she's wearing the latest Christian Dior model and the 'orchids' he presents her are really just violets. Ginny's mother thinks it is a lot of nonsense and Ginny starts to wonder if she is right. But when David proposes to her, she realizes that reality can be more marvelous than living in the clouds.
