The second chapter of The Mysteries of Unland arrives with one of the more unsettling cover images in the Witchfinder series — a hulking suit of armor whose visor slots blaze with vivid crimson fire, tendrils of flame curling upward out of the darkness like something deeply wrong has taken root inside the metal. Julian Totino Tedesco's painted cover work gives the figure a corroded, almost organic weight, making it feel less like a relic and less like a threat than something in between. With Kim Newman and Maura McHugh writing and Tyler Crook and Dave Stewart bringing the interior to life, this five-issue Dark Horse series continues to mine Victorian occult dread to striking effect.
