“The Fisherman of Jupiter”

In "The Fisherman of Jupiter," a newlywed couple in Egypt stumbles upon a massive egg in the desert sand, only to watch it hatch into the legendary Roc under the blazing sun. As the colossal bird begins collecting debris from bridges and trains to build a nest, the scientist who discovered the egg devises a daring plan: a robotic replica that flies into space, luring the creature on a journey beyond Earth. Written by Stan Lee and Larry Lieber, illustrated by Jack Kirby with inks by Dick Ayers, and lettered by Artie Simek and Ray Holloway, this 1972 tale blends myth and science with a touch of cosmic whimsy. The cover, penciled and inked by Dick Giordano, captures the Roc’s dramatic flight in striking detail.
