Simpsons Comics #145
In "Worst Competition Ever!", Homer and Bart stumble upon Grampa's stash of vintage comic books and decide to open their own comic shop—only to quickly find themselves in a showdown with the one person they didn’t expect to beat: Comic Book Guy, now facing his toughest rival yet. Written by Eric Rogers and illustrated by John Costanza, with inks by Phyllis Novin, colors by Art Villanueva, and letters by Karen Bates, this 2008 Bongo Comics issue captures the chaos of small-town rivalry with a side of Springfield charm. The cover, by Jason Ho and Mike Rote, perfectly captures the comic’s playful tension.
When Homer and Bart uncover Grampa’s old comic books, they launch a rival comic shop—only to find their new venture turning Homer into a mirror image of Comic Book Guy, pushing the original to the brink of closing down.
