The SilverHawks series was announced at New York Comic Con in October 2024 and launched in January 2025, conceived by Dynamite as the second title in their growing Warner Bros. Discovery–licensed 'ThunderVerse' following the commercial breakout of their ThunderCats relaunch. Writer Ed Brisson had actively lobbied for the assignment since ThunderCats launched, first raising the question with ThunderCats writer Declan Shalvey, then again with editor Nate Cosby while working on the ThunderCats: Apex one-shot. Artist George Kambadais, who had previously drawn Dynamite's Gargoyles series, joined as the interior artist from issue #1 onward. Issue #5 itself suffered a notable production delay: originally solicited for May 28, 2025 through Diamond Comics Distributors, it was pushed first to July 16 and then to its final street date of July 23, 2025 through Lunar Distribution — a delay attributable in part to disruptions caused by Diamond's Chapter 11 bankruptcy proceedings.
