When two of Marvel's most determined mercenary-minded heroes end up in the same dangerous place, sparks are bound to fly. This 1993 issue's cover — penciled by Steven Butler and inked by Jim Sanders III — puts Silver Sable and the Punisher front and center, both heavily armed and squaring off against a backdrop of a massive, fiery red skull, with their pointed banter ("This ain't no place for a lady!" / "So what are YOU doing here?") making clear neither is inclined to step aside. "Crossed Purposes" promises exactly that kind of friction, and with the Wild Pack's silver-haired leader holding her own against one of Marvel's toughest street-level figures, this one delivers an appealing clash of styles and attitudes.
