Sidekick #10
Tom Mandrake's cover for Sidekick #10 is genuinely unsettling — a grinning young man stares out with wide, unsettling eyes while a massive skull-faced figure looms over him, its red-draped form consuming nearly the entire image, a crescent moon symbol gleaming at its crown. The contrast between that wild, almost ecstatic smile below and the death's-head hovering above makes for one of the more quietly chilling covers of 2015. J. Michael Straczynski's Joe's Comics series has always leaned into the darker side of superhero mythology, and with a chapter titled "Full Circle," this issue feels like a reckoning long in the making.
