☆ Be the first to review + Add to your collection — Join freeThis massive black-and-white volume collects the original 1960s adventures of Rex Mason, the elemental hero known as Metamorpho, from The Brave and the Bold #57-59 and his own short-lived series, Metamorpho #1-17. As part of DC's Showcase Presents line, it presents the wild, Kirby-esque stories by writer Bob Haney and artist Ramona Fradon in an affordable, phone-book-sized format. It's a deep dive into the Silver Age weirdness of a man who can transform his body into any element, fighting bizarre villains alongside allies like Batman and the Justice League.
"Table of Contents" kicks off Showcase Presents: Metamorpho #1 with a pulse-pounding origin that redefines what it means to be transformed—literally. Written by Bob Haney and brought to life by Ramona Fradon’s expressive art and Charles Paris’s crisp inks, this story follows Rex Mason’s fateful journey to Egypt, where a twist of fate and ancient mystery unlock his elemental powers. The cover by Sal Trapani, Mike Sekowsky, and Joe Giella (with inks by Murphy Anderson) captures the moment of transformation with striking detail.
