Showcase Presents: Green Lantern #1
☆ Be the first to review + Add to your collection — Join freeThis massive black-and-white volume reprints the earliest Silver Age adventures of Hal Jordan, the second Green Lantern, from his debut in Showcase #22 through the first several issues of his own series. Collecting over 500 pages of stories by John Broome, Gil Kane, and others, it showcases the origins of the Emerald Gladiator, his ring’s limitations against yellow, and his battles with classic foes like Sinestro and Star Sapphire. A budget-friendly entry point into DC’s cosmic hero, this edition strips away color to focus on the dynamic artwork and fast-paced sci-fi plots of the era.
In "SOS Green Lantern!", a long-buried family secret resurfaces when Tom Kalmakus learns his late father’s lost map is key to a hidden gold mine—and the only one who can help him is the mysterious Green Lantern. Written by John Broome and illustrated with sharp precision by Gil Kane, with inks by Joe Giella, this 2005 Showcase Presents tale blends old-school mystery with superhero intrigue, culminating in a shocking revelation about Hal Jordan’s true identity. The cover, also by Gil Kane and Joe Giella, captures the tension of a man on the edge of discovery.
