The penultimate issue of this Image series subtitled "A Pre-Apocalyptic Tale" arrives with a cover that captures its tension perfectly — a lone young figure, weapon in hand, stands silhouetted against a stark yellow sky as a helicopter cuts through the dark, roiling clouds above. Johnnie Christmas's linework gives the scene a quiet, loaded weight, with Shari Chankhamma's bold contrast between that burning amber horizon and the encroaching darkness overhead doing a lot of emotional heavy lifting. If you've been following this series through 2014, issue #13 suggests the walls — and the sky — are closing in.
