She-Hulk #23

Peter David's run on She-Hulk takes a brooding turn with this 2008 issue, and Mike Deodato's cover makes the mood unmistakable: a soaking-wet She-Hulk crawls across a waterfront dock, her long green hair plastered across her face, city lights glimmering behind her in the night sky as coiled ropes frame the scene. That low, predatory posture and the cold intensity in her eyes suggest someone pushed to her absolute limit — whatever "Jaded: Episode 2" has in store, it clearly isn't a good day for Jennifer Walters. Shawn Moll and Victor Olazaba handle the interior art for a chapter that promises to keep the series' darker, more personal tone front and center.
