Shaolin Cowboy: Cruel to Be Kin #6

The sixth chapter of Cruel to Be Kin delivers Geof Darrow's cover work at its most densely satisfying — the battle-worn Cowboy dominates the foreground, hat low and red-smeared sword whirling overhead, while a ring of identically dressed fighters fans out at his feet against a greyscale urban backdrop that includes what appears to be a massive kaiju looming at the left. Dave Stewart's selective coloring pops the Cowboy and his opponents in warm, earthy tones against the muted cityscape, giving the composition a sense of controlled chaos that rewards a long look. Dark Horse brings this 2022 miniseries to its penultimate chapter in fine, blood-spattered style.
