Shadow of the Golden Crane #4

The four-part Hellboy Universe miniseries reaches its finale with a cover that pulls you straight into the tension — a masked figure reaches urgently toward a glowing lantern emblazoned with the silhouette of a great crane, while another person grasps at them from below, and Hellboy himself lurks watchfully in the shadowed background. Michael Avon Oeming's composition, warmed beautifully by Chris O'Halloran's colors, balances quiet dread with a real sense of things coming to a head. Chris Roberson's supernatural thriller wraps up here, and this closing chapter looks every bit as atmospheric as the issues that came before it.
