Joe Kubert's cover for this November 1983 DC issue delivers an immediately gripping standoff: a blonde soldier in a blue uniform dangles in the grip of a hulking, bandolier-draped enemy, desperately brandishing a grenade with the threat "Drop me… or this grenade will blow up in your face!" Below them, a chaotic battlefield scene unfolds with troops and a military vehicle scrambling across rubble-strewn streets. It's a tense, vertigo-inducing composition that sets the stage perfectly for "The Last P.O.W.," the story waiting inside from writer Robert Kanigher and artist Dan Spiegle.
