In "Color Me Brave!", Mac Stringer proves his courage and skill by helping rescue trapped sailors aboard the U.S.S. Oklahoma at Pearl Harbor, yet despite his bravery, he’s still denied any duty above Steward due to the color of his skin.

In "I Knew the Unknown Soldier!", Sgt. Rock recounts a series of mysterious encounters with a nameless soldier who repeatedly saves his life during fierce combat, vanishing before anyone else can confirm his presence. When the man finally dies in a heroic act—blowing up a tank only to be crushed by it—Rock and the rest of Easy Company bear witness to his sacrifice. Later, Rock learns that the fallen hero will be honored as the Unknown Soldier of World War II.
