The Big Breakout!" promises exactly the kind of chaotic, hard-fought action that made this series a staple of Marvel's war line. The cover by Dick Ayers and John Severin puts Sgt. Fury front and center, teeth gritted and submachine gun in hand, crouching over a fallen comrade as a squad of enemy soldiers charges through smoke and explosions behind him. It's a tense, kinetic scene that captures the spirit of the Howling Commandos beautifully — and at 40 cents in 1980, it was a terrific deal for fans of Marvel's grittiest WWII adventures.
