Sex Criminals #7

Matt Fraction and Chip Zdarsky's acclaimed series delivers a quietly arresting cover for issue #7, subtitled "Break, Enter" — a person's open mind literally contains a miniature house and yard, complete with a lone tiny figure standing outside, while two large purple hands reach in from either side as if to claim or rearrange what lives there. It's a striking visual metaphor rendered in cool grays and deep violet by Zdarsky, whose triple duty as artist, inker, and colorist gives the image a beautifully unified, dreamlike quality. A thoughtful and genuinely creative entry in one of Image Comics' most inventive series of 2014.
