In "Röksignaler over Mesa City!", a schoolteacher known only as John Tane finds his lessons in Native American signaling put to the test when real smoke signals lead him to rescue his friend Swift Deer from a grizzly bear. When the same signals suddenly flare from the schoolhouse, he discovers the children are trapped by bandits—but their quick thinking, sparked by what they learned, may be their only chance to survive.
In "Spionen fra Fort Desolation," Lt Dan Foley slips into the role of a traveling peddler to uncover the Blackfeet’s true intentions—whether they’re planning a raid on Fort Desolation or shifting their focus northward. After a tense encounter with a puma and a dangerous recognition by the tribe, he’s captured and tied to a stake, but manages to break free and flee back to the fort in the very wagon he used to disguise himself. The Blackfeet move on, and the fort is saved.
In "Høvding Tomahawk!", a young warrior earns the temporary leadership of his tribe, but his authority is tested when restless members provoke a conflict with nearby settlers, threatening to unravel the fragile peace he’s trying to uphold.
