In "I dödens grepp," Conan is hired by the noblewoman Aztrias of Numalia to steal a mysterious relic from the wealthy merchant Kallian, who temporarily guards a Stygian chalice said to hold an immeasurable treasure. When Conan breaks into Kallian’s home and finds the chalice empty and the merchant dead, he’s framed by Aztrias as the killer—only to face a far more monstrous threat: a reptilian creature with a human head, lurking within the very vessel. The story, written by Robert E. Howard and Roy Thomas, features bold artwork by Barry Smith with inks by Sal Buscema and Dan Adkins, and a striking cover by Thord Lindblom.
