Sergio Aragonés Groo the Wanderer #89

The cover of this May 1992 Epic Comics release says it all with a cheerful banner: "Chakaal's Back! (Her Front's Here, Too.)" — and sure enough, the fierce warrior woman Chakaal towers over a wide-eyed, tongue-wagging Groo, sword raised while the hapless wanderer looks thoroughly outmatched at her feet. Sergio Aragonés draws both characters with his signature expressive energy, packing genuine comedy and dynamic action into a single image. With Aragonés writing and illustrating alongside Mark Evanier, Tom Luth on colors, and Stan Sakai lettering, issue #89 delivers the kind of irreverent sword-and-sorcery fun that made this series a perennial delight.
