Sergio Aragonés Groo the Wanderer #5

Sergio Aragonés brings his endlessly inventive pen to this July 1985 Epic Comics entry, as the bumbling swordsman Groo finds himself marching through a dense jungle alongside a group of tribal warriors — apparently unaware that a lurking menagerie of grotesque, grinning creatures watches from the shadowy undergrowth to the right, skulls scattered at their feet. The tension between Groo's oblivious swagger and the sinister ambush waiting just out of his sight is pure Aragonés, rendered with his trademark wit and visual density. With Mark Evanier, Tom Luth, and Stan Sakai rounding out the creative team, "Slavers" promises the kind of chaotic adventure that made this series such a delight in 1985.
