Sergio Aragonés Groo the Wanderer #28

The story title "The Gourmet Kings" sets the table perfectly for this June 1987 Marvel/Epic Comics cover, where Groo sits hunched over a messy spread of food, shoveling it in with gleeful abandon while two wide-eyed women on either side of him recoil in horrified disbelief — a chicken fluttering overhead completing the scene's wonderful chaos. Sergio Aragonés both wrote and drew this issue, and his cover linework captures that signature blend of slapstick and expressive character work that made Groo such a treat throughout the 1980s. With Mark Evanier co-writing, Tom Luth on colors, and Stan Sakai lettering, this is a thoroughly accomplished creative team delivering one of Groo's more deliciously absurd outings.
