Sergio Aragonés Groo #11

Sergio Aragonés sends his beloved buffoon Groo the Wanderer headlong into gambling chaos on this cover, where the grinning swordsman bursts through a shower of playing cards, gold coins, dice, and a roulette wheel while his spotted dog Rufferto scrambles nearby and a crowd of bewildered onlookers packs the background. The story is titled "The Gamblers," and Aragonés's cover art makes it delightfully clear that wherever Groo lands, the odds — and apparently the furniture — are never in anyone's favor. A fine 1995 entry in the Image run of this long-running comedic series, colored with characteristic warmth by Tom Luth.
